I was visiting the area on a work trip and booked a guided kayaking tour with Irene. This was my very first kayaking experience and it was AMAZING!!!! Irene is extremely knowledgeable and did a wonderful job explaining things and pointing out all of the cool stuff!! She even provided plastic sandwich bags for our phones & snapped a few pics for us! World class customer service!!!!!!!! I would most definitely recommend her services to anyone visiting the area and I am looking forward to booking with her again on my return trip with family!!!!!!!!! Thank you Irene for a wonderful kayaking experience!!!
Some good did come of it, like many of the other campers in the park who overheard the screaming and obscenities the campers who had originally rented the bike walked to our campsite to apologize on Irene's behalf.
To which I snapped, particularly since we were there celebrating our anniversary of 18 years. We were floored that an otherwise beautiful day was ruined by a thoughtless, rude owner who stated she'd NEVER been to the campground before and wasn't sure where to go and didn't know she couldn't park wherever she wanted. If you've owned a recreational rental company for several years and were less than 3 miles from one of the largest state parks in the entire State, it would be safe to say that you've been in the park before and are familiar with park rules and basic etiquette.
My husband and I were absolutely stunned to return to our beautiful campsite at Hunting Island only to discover that (self-proclaimed owner of the company) Irene, had decided to park her vehicle in our site as though it were a public parking lot while she strolled around the campground to deliver a bicycle, despite the clear number markings on each site. Having no idea who the vehicle belonged to, we contacted a ranger to have it removed. When she returned, she offered no apology and was babbling incoherently about our camper and the items in our campsite, asking questions about what we do, where we work, etc.
The ranger asked her to leave and we had a chance to meet and chat with the friendly campers who joked about her strange behavior and her odd request for them to join her at a Toga Party later that evening to celebrate a friends hip replacement; Very Odd, Very Unprofessional and we hope we never encounter her or her "business" again.
After retrieving her misplaced keys, she returned to our site, at which point she became verbally abusive, calling my husband names and stating to me that she hopes I don't marry this Expletive expletive jerk.
Local guides and beautiful locations!
She then demanded to know if we took her car keys (we had not) and without so much as a word she wandered off again, back to the campsite in which she had delivered the bicycle. She had set them down on the picnic table & forgotten them because she was busy doing shots with the campers at the site.
Best place to rent from here in the low-country.
We inquired as to why her vehicle was in our site and told her it wasn't a public parking area. She said it wasn't a big deal, the site she was going to was just around the loop and she was delivering a bike to a friend. My husband pointed at our camper and asked her if it looked like her friends camper and she said she didn't know what her friends camper looked like. After 10 minutes of them going back and forth she finally admitted that she was the owner of Beaufort Lands End Tours and Kayak rentals and she was delivering a bike someone had rented, there actually was no friend.
