Hunting Island had been a part of my life since 1968. It is beautiful & relaxing. The volunteer workers have done a splendid job in helping with the restoration after Hurricane Matthew & I was very happy to see the Lighthouse & her out buildings still looking good. Never miss an opportunity to go there - & I'm a permanent resident.
Stopped by on our way from Savannah to Charleston to visit the lighthouse, only to be told that it was closed. If you check the website, no where does it explicitly say that the lighthouse is currently closed. Disappointing, to say the least. Furthermore, the staff in the nature center were not polite. No one spoke to myself nor my girlfriend the 10+ minutes we were in the center. Where Hunting Island State Park earns two stars is for the beach -- Absolutely gorgeous and untouched, nice to see such a beach still exists on the East Coast.
What a beautiful historic lighthouse! The staff was wonderful and so were the views! I'm very happy we had the opportunity to stop and visit.
I loved this place. The trees in the beach were gorgeous and the gift shop had a good variety. It is only $2/person to climb. Another lighthouse stamp on my passport!
I absolutely love this park. Beautiful place, that's great to bring the dogs. $5 per person entry, and $2 to go up in the lighthouse.
